Construction of a computer … Can you help me?!?
Ok so I am currently a Pentium 4 factory 8300 Dell Desktop computer. Http: / / reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/desktops/0, 1000000968,10004197,00. Htm I updated the graphics card last year at an ATI card very nice, and I also added another stick of 512 Ram. All is well on it, but I just want more speed / power / reliability. I am wanting to build myself a new computer and buy parts out of the new egg. My question is what all I need to buy, and what I can steal my old comp? I think the new Intel Core Duo is a must. (2.0 GHz), I'm also going to get a new tower. (This will be supplied with power supply). I'm going to steal my old graphics / video card and mice, keyboards, speakers and monitors. Should I buy a CD-ROM, CD-RW, CD-DVD or can I steal them too? motherboard? If so how much use of memory I need for serious games? Sound card, can I steal this from the? Dell Ram, I currently have a gig of RAM in the other model, I can fly these too?
ok first well. Core Duo is nice but it will not work on your current MOBO. Core Duo is a type LGA (which has no pins) to so you'll need a new mobo. Next yes, you can use your optical drives (CD DVD), you'll probably need to use different memeory so. more MOBOS use DDR2 which is much faster. I would go with at least 2gig of that. Next get a graphics card seriousl with at least 256 and is AGP2 or PCI Express. I recommend either a Stealth Radeon chipset or card NIVIDIA really nice. Also, do not face new egg, but you might want to try first world, they tend to have a little better Slection on the case and the prices are much lower than most places. one last thing when you have your new mobo, the tower and everything make sure you get the fans at least 2 cases. a push back and pull in front to keep cool this monster. eithr or do what I did and get togethr a system with these parties. Intell Core Duo Extreme 3GB DDR2 Hardrive 2 TB (SATA) Graphics card with Stealth Radeon 9800 PCI 512MB running temp Volcano Express tach and fans cooler case of water supply 850 watts Motherboard ASUS (ifogot number) a 37 "LCD monitor wireless mouse and kb 2.4 ghz Linksys Configuration DSL this baby kicks a>> good luck dude let me know how things are going well. and Hey whose home burned doin it like i almost did with my first 10 years build ago.lol
