References to the guitar, more or less in its modern form dates back to the 14th century. In her childhood she had four courses of double strings and a body round like a squash or a pumpkin. Her mother did not recognize him!

Around the sixteenth century, the guitar was an instrument popular music among the middle and lower classes of Europe, and as it grew in popularity it began to undergo change shape. Luthiers began to make simple string instruments, instead of being and experience of its shape until, by the 19th century, the body of the guitar was more broad and flat. In the twentieth century, the wooden pegs which adjusted the tension of the strings have been replaced by metal heads of the machine. We now form the modern electric guitar is based on.

The first electric guitars were made in the 1930s in response to a request from bands whose guitarists Stylings rhythm could not be heard above other instruments. The main problem with the electric guitars was that feedback coming through the amplifier of the vibration of the guitar body. This challenge started on evolutionary process of the solid body electric guitar.

Electric guitars were at the beginning of the sound holes in the body that were smaller than the holes in his classical guitars. In 1924, Lloyd Loar, an engineer from the Gibson factory, uses a magnet to change guitar string vibrations into electrical signals, which could be amplified by a loudspeaker. Now it was possible to build guitars that had no sound holes, but could be heard clearly through an amplifier. Guitarists amateurs could get their hands on electric guitars through the efforts of Paul Barth, George Beauchamp and Adolph Rickenbacker, who founded the company Electro String in 1931. Their guitars like steel guitars, and played on the knees of the guitar using a slide show.

Modern Electric guitars are made several thin layers of wood glued together. The top layer is often a more attractive wood for the guitar to give a pleasing appearance, and other layers are of wood, which gives a good tone, such as poplar or ash. The use of laminates give the instrument with the body and a robust quality sound that is impossible in a single piece of wood. The original solid body guitar was however made from one piece of wood. In 1941, Paul The sleepers railway closed in an amplified string instrument. He calls it "the newspaper". When production began his instrument he remained with the conventional form of guitar to give market a familiar image for identification. Les Paul's invention marketed under the name Les Paul is Gibson still extremely popular.

In the 1940s, the Fender Broadcaster electric guitar came into the world. Nobody really noticed until Arthur Smith used a diffuser to record "Guitar Boogie" in 1949. After being renamed the Telecaster, it has been on the market in 1950. Another model of Fender, the Stratocaster, attracted the attention of guitarists with his unique sound and light. It always second guitar the world's most popular.

Ibanez, Jackson, Paul Reed Smith, ESP and Yamaha have made solid body electric guitars with original drawings, forms distinctive and new materials mixed with modern technology to produce more efficient and versatile electric guitars. Electric Guitar Today produce tones ranging from music and quasi-futuristic sound.

In the 1960s, boxes brought fuzz effects, delay, echo and wah-wah sound to the arsenal of sounds available to modern guitarist. A foot pedal for the guitarist turns the effects on or off. Now guitars contain software that enables guitars sound like other types of guitars and reproduce the sound of other musical instruments. With developments like the last auto-tuning Guitars, perhaps the old joke about a guitar player "phoning in" a solo will become a reality!
