What should I buy?

I have less than $ 1,000 to spend on a new computer. I am not interested in one that is designed for games .. Just e-mail, Internet, music and photo editing. I live in a rural area, but it will be to get DSL service, which should help a little. Telephone lines old here that give me 31,200 MAYBE the middle of the night, so I'm sure DSL will not be as big here as in some places. Do not trust wireless internet. Opinions on the keyboard and mouse wireless?? Who has the best machinery and high technology services for the money I spend?? Dell? Gateway? Acer? Compaq? HP? Do you have the same machine as WalMart, Best Buy and other retailers as you would directly from the manufacturer? I am an old lady, and This will probably be my last computer … my only course was purchased in 1998. Suggestions and opinions please!

for 1000 $, You can get a really decent computer for the particular use you want out of there. Personally, I would not go with dell because you do not need your money's worth. their computers are more expensive because they customize everything. I prefer the Gateway or HP. I have not had much luck with Compaq and Acer. Compaq is just the lower parts of HP. all they do is take the technology that has passed outdated and putting them on the Compaq. HPs are better than Compaq and far. faster and more reliable, especially with the changing world of technology. as far as wireless options, I have had good experiences with both the keyboard and mouse, they seem to work very well, but it also depends on the brand you get. Finally, you really can not decide who has the best quality machine, for then you should compare the same machine from the manufacturer to the retailer … If you go to the retailer, computers are just the basic you need, then they try to help you add this and that software on your computer. If you go through the manufacturer, it is personalized. they give you a basic price and then give you options where you may upgrade and / or downgrade your computer. and with customization, it comes with costs so just be aware. The choice is yours if you want to go to the retailer or manufacturer, but I'll leave This last note for you. With my experience I bought my computer at Best Buy. their customer support is great, sometimes they have their moments, but mostly, I have good things to say about them … DONT BUY at Walmart ……… not a good decision. Well, good luck in your quest to find your computer. I hope I helped some.
