keyboard shortcut word Mac?
I'm looking to do ~ ~ or Ctrl + key or ctrl or command + ~ ~ + + command or fn + ~ or you get the idea … Well anyway I'm looking for a way to make such a shortcut word that is often long and i all. Is this possible. so I can be the scope of this key (s) and this word appears. by the way this is obviously on a mac not a PC. anyway Thanks for the answers advance
Yes and no. Yes, you can set a keyboard shortcut to automatically insert a word or words in your document. But trying to do it myself, I could not enter the shortcuts with the ~ key. So if you are happy to find another shortcut to use, then click Yes. Here is how: First off, I am using Word 2008 for Mac. I can not guarantee that it works for this version, but it is possible that this feature is present in earlier versions as well. If you do not have 2008, I still try because I guess it will work. Step 1: Choose Insert -> Insert -> AutoText. If for some reason that does not work, you can go to Word -> Preferences, then click AutoCorrect, and then AutoText. Step 2: On the Insert menu, add a new AutoText entry (this should be the word that you try to use a shortcut for) in the box below where it says "Enter AutoText entries here:" and click Add. it was added to the list existing entries and then click OK Make sure the bottom. Step 3: Navigate to Tools -> Customize Keyboard. In the categories box on the left, Auto scroll to near the bottom. Select AutoText, and then find the word you added in the box right and select it. Step 4: Click the box to the right of "hot key new releases" and enter the desired shortcut as you normally would type of shortcut. If nothing appears, it probably means you're not allowed to use any key you tried to use. Keep trying until you find one that works. Word easily tell you if the shortcut is already assigned to another command, you do not need the risk of erasing something. If you accidentally hit the wrong shortcut, you can always hit delete to get rid him. You've found once you want, and click Assign it should appear in the box labeled "Current Key." Select OK bottom and you should be all set. Typing the newly assigned shortcut should automatically insert your word in the document. If at any time you want delete the shortcut, simply return to the Customize toolbox and click Delete keyboard shortcut that you want to cancel the assignment.
